Family friendly, FREE event, all welcome

2-6pm Children’s workshops and entertainment - lantern making, pumpkin carving, broom making, face painting, pageantry and storytelling.

7-9pm Púcas & Potions Samhain Pageant on the Fairgreen telling the story of Samhain and its origins on the Hill of Tlachtga, Athboy.  UCD will be onsite with a hands-on experiential archaeological workshop demonstrating a real time archaeological dig along with the process of iron crafts and bronzing. 

 

The community of Athboy, with the support of Meath Arts and Heritage and Boyne Valley Tourism present Halloween HQ, a family friendly creative hub offering workshops and pageantry for primary school children on the Fair Green, Athboy where halloween began over 3,000 years ago. Childrens can participate in workshops on the Fair Green from 2-6pm in lantern making, pumpkin carving, broom making, face painting, pageantry and storytelling. The ancient past meets the twenty-first century with a re-enactment of the Celtic celebration starting with a lantern lit procession on the Fair Green at 7pm followed by Púcas & Potions pageantry portraying the history and origins of Samhain.  Take a step back in time with the UCD School of Archaeology who will be onsite with their hands-on experiential archaeological workshop demonstrating a real time archaeological dig along with the process of iron crafts and bronzing.  Halloween HQ is a FREE family friendly event.
